3M Touch Systems Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Display Materials and Systems Division, exhibited its latest large-format multi-touch solutions for interactive digital signage applications at InfoComm 2014. • 55” Collaborative Touch Table: 3M showcased a sleek touch concept table implementation, constructed by Ideum, which incorporates the 3M 55-inch Projected Capacitive prototype touchscreen. This 55-inch Projected Capacitive touchscreen is highlighted by its ultra-fast touch response for 60 simultaneous touches, and the concept table demonstrates how this touchscreen can be ideal for multi-user collaborative applications. 3M anticipates that the 3M 55-inch Projected Capacitive touchscreen will be available for commercial display applications in 2014. • High Performance Large-format Multi-touch Systems: For OEMs, ODMs and display integrators interested in developing their own lineup of large-format multi-touch devices, 3M offers its high-performance, projected capacitive multi-touch system (sensor and controller), the 3M Multi-Touch System PCT2420PX, in sizes from 32” to 46”. These large-format multi-touch systems are now available for sale directly from 3M. • Immersive Multi-touch Display Wall featuring 3M’s Multi-display/Multi-touch Driver: Exhibited on a display wall composed of nine 42” multi-touch displays, the 3M Multi-Touch Driver MT7.14 offers Microsoft Windows 8 and Windows 7 applications fast and accurate simultaneous multi-touch capabilities that can span across configurations of two or more 3M multi-touch displays. This free, downloadable driver enables multi-touch software developers to create more immersive applications that enable multiple users to simultaneously interact with multiple displays on a display wall without any noticeable touch lag or interference while moving across displays; or allows a single user to use multiple touch screens at one time in a workstation or wall display environment. 3M Multi-Touch Driver MT7.14 is currently available for download. “As trends in multi-touch applications evolve, 3M is committed to being the industry’s supplier of choice for high performance, large-format multi-touch displays and components,” said Nicola Stevens, global business director, Display Materials and Systems Division. “With 25 years experience in capacitive sensing electronics and firmware and a worldwide manufacturing footprint, 3M is ideally positioned to meet the interactive technology and service needs of its global customer base.” 3M touch products are commonly used for single-touch and multi-touch applications that include casino gaming, foodservice, hospitality, industrial, interactive digital signage, healthcare, retail point of sale and self-service.
